Mental Preparation for Weight Loss Success

It is no great secret that the process of losing weight can be both difficult and easy depending upon the person attempting it and their predominant mental disposition. For the negative, depressive and demotivated person, the whole process takes on gargantuan proportions and the very thought of even getting started brings with it images of failure and despair. Whereas the positive, upbeat and motivated person finds the challenge of losing weight something to relish and is quick to get started with the sure belief that success is but a few weeks of serious dieting and exercise away.

If the predominant mental state is such an important factor in the whole weight loss process, then why aren’t more people working on that aspect of their strategy? The answer is probably because it is the very aspect that is not spoken about, especially by weight loss companies that would rather sell people their product than have them realize they can lose weight all by themselves just by getting their heads straight! So getting past what the industry wants, what can you, as an individual do to vastly improve your chances of losing weight while also increasing your fitness and vitality levels and boosting your overall health?

The simple answer is to get your mind into a positive state and find the motivation and eagerness to take on a weight loss strategy of your own and then just do it! However, the simple answer, while the most attractive, is not always the right one for everyone. How do you convince the depressive, negative person that all they have to do is alter their predominant mental state and they will find it easy to lose weight? The short answer is that you can’t. In fact, you can’t make anyone do anything they don’t want to, a bit like leading that horse to water but not being able to make him drink it!

What you can do is provide the necessary information and show a person what they can do in order to make a difference and then leave it up to them to choose to either use that information to get a better, slimmer and fitter body while improving their health and life expectancy, or to ignore it and get fatter, more unhealthy and die sooner. Sometimes, putting it in very blunt terms like that will rub off on some people enough to get them to see that they have to make the change all by themselves. After all, its your body and your health and therefore its your choice how you are. What will you choose?

I find writing down your reasons good approach and when you feel like quitting you can remind yourself of all the reasons why you started.

    Great job, keep it up
